NOT SO NICE! are proud to present the return of ‘[UN]LOVABLE’! A Scratch Night performance designed to showcase local theatre makers in Scotland. As the new year approaches, the countdown begins. To Valentine’s Day. An entire day dedicated to romance and love. A day of hope, celebration and joy… for some. But what about the rest of us? Those who feel isolated, whose experiences of love are more complex, whose rose-tinted glasses have been smashed beyond repair. What does Valentine’s Day mean to us?

Here's where you come in! We want you to delve into the other side of love: being ‘unlovable’. Bizarre breakups, absurd affairs and eccentric entanglements are just some of the hilarious, heartfelt and horrific stories waiting to be told. Please use your creativity to come up with your own interpretation. There are no limitations at all. Be bold and brave, but most of all... surprise us!

We will be selecting submissions to be written for this scratch night.
Each piece must be 10-15 minutes long.

There will be dramaturgical support sessions throughout the process. The dates will be confirmed soon.

Deadlines:
12/11/25 - Submission received.
14/11/25 - Successful playwrights confirmed.
21/11/25 - First draft submission.
05/12/25 - Second draft submission.

19/12/25 - Final draft submission.
13/02/26 - '[UN]LOVABLE' Performance date.

Due to this being an unfunded event, Not So Nice! are providing an equal profit share of ticket sales. This will include playwrights, actors, directors, tech.
