NOT SO NICE! are proud to present a brand new Scratch Night performance designed to showcase local theatre makers in Edinburgh. The stimulus of the project is 'Roots'. In life, we often focus on what we can see in front of us; on what's visibly beautiful. But what about what is unseen? The intricate and essential groundwork of roots that happens beneath the surface of the soil. Roots challenges us to look deeper, to uncover the hidden forces that shape and sustain what we see above. They represent where we come from: our heritage, our home, our history. What does it mean to be rooted? To feel grounded, connected, and nurtured by the places, people, and cultures that shaped you? And what does it mean to be unrooted, to feel adrift, to lose or search for that connection?
Here's where you come in! Whether it’s about growth, heritage, or the search for belonging, we invite you to dig deep and explore what lies beneath the surface. Please use your creativity to come up with your own interpretation based on the stimulus. There are no limitations at all. Be bold and brave, but above all... surprise us!
What stories will you unearth? Let’s find out…
